Avatar golf tournament to benefit Bellalago Academy SAC

Registrations are now being accepted for the fifth annual Avatar-Solivita Golf Tournament to be played Friday, August 19^th at the Stonegate golf course in Solivita, located in the northeast Polk County portion of Poinciana.

Net proceeds from the 18-hole scramble with a shotgun start will go to the Bellalago Academy SAC (school advisory council) for the purchase of school supplies and equipment not covered by regular school funding.

Donations of $400 per foursome include breakfast, lunch and beverages on the course, according to Avatar’s Jeff Pashley, tournament chairman. Hole sponsorships are $150 each.

Bellalago Academy is a unique K-8 charter school located in Avatar’s residential community of Bellalago which is nestled between Lake Tohopekaliga and Pleasant Hill Road. Opened in August 2004, the Academy is Florida’s first charter school to be managed by a school district---Osceola County (SDOC)---and Osceola’s first Educational Facilities Benefit District (EFBD), a special taxing district established by the Florida Legislature to generate funds to build schools in new neighborhoods. The Academy is currently undergoing an expansion that will give it a total capacity of 1,640 student stations and include a new computerized media center, library, larger cafeteria, and multi-purpose gymnasium.
